Dr John Carkeek qualified as a dental surgeon in 1972 at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He immediately moved over to the UK and started working in general practice until 1975. Dr Carkeek then returned to South Africa where he was accepted as a registrar in the Orthodontic department at the University Of Stellenbosch. He qualified as a Orthodontic specialist in 1978.

He started his own private specialist orthodontic practice in Somerset West, Cape Province, South Africa. He continues to run this extremely successful practice where he has gained invaluable experience in all aspect of Orthodontics. Dr Carkeek started working at Fulham Dental Care in February 2002.He is married with 5 children and enjoys all types of sport including squash, golf cycling and diving.

Dr Mauro Lucchesi BChD MChD(Ortho)

Dr Mauro Lucchesi qualified as a general dentist in 1975 at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He then moved over to England to work in a general practice from 1975 to 1977. After this he joined the University of the Western Cape in the Maxillo-Facial Surgery department as a senior lecturer. In 1979 he was able to get on to the Orthodontic specialist programme at the University of Stellenbosch.

Dr Lucchesi qualified as an Orthodontist in 1982. There after he joined the Orthodontic department of the Western Cape as a senior lecturer and took over the assistant professorship post in 1984. In 1985 he started his own private orthodontic practice in Bellville, Cape Town. He is married with two children. His hobbies are Motor racing, Motor racing and Motor racing.
